Crestito N. Sanico – Best Municipal Public Servant
(National Level)
Born in Tambis II, Saint Bernardn Southern Leyte on October 27, 1945. He studied in elementary at Ayahag Elementary School (1956) and secondary at Southern Leyte State University- San Juan Campus (formerly the Cabalian High School) in 1965.
He took up Associate in Nautical Science in Cebu City and from then on, He eventually landed a job in the local government unit particularly in the postal office Until he became an acting postmaster-postman II up to his retirement in 2007.
Married to Barbara M. Sanico, a court stenographer III, with whom pro- duced three successful children namely, Cresmareh Sol M. Sanico- B.S. MassCom, Louiella M. Sanico-BSC Management Accounting; and Jordan M. Sanico-Airline Maintenance Engineering.
Tito (as his peers fondly called him) is also an active member of Board of Directors in San Isidro Parish Credit Cooperative, presently appointed as Lupong Tagapamayapa in Barangay Himatagon (Poblacion) 2008-2012, and a lay minister of the Roman Catholic Church.
Last December 9, 2007, he was a recipient of the First Athena Award 2007 for Best Municipal (National-Level) Public Servant, for having been ren- dered an outstanding work performance and showing an exemplary conduct and ethical behavior in the execution of a noble public service worthy of praise and emulation.
Although he is a national level employee, the Local Government Unit recognizes the impact of his service throughout his 27 government career with zeal and dedication in the Municipality of Saint Bernard.

BENITA BULAGSAC – Best Barangay Public Servant
Born in Himos-onan, Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte on February 10, 1950. She studied in Catmon Elementary School. Financial constraint is the reason why she was not bale to pursue her education in high school and college until she got married and eventually settled in barangay Himos- onan.
Her spouse is Isidro C. Bulagsac with whom she has two (2) lovely children namely: Emelina B. Cabilan and Norma B. Vertera both already married.
She is very active in the community as member of the barangay health workers (BHW) and Women’s Organization of barangay Himos-onan.
An awardee of the First Athena Award 2007 (in memory of committed public servants who where buried alive on February 17, 2006 in Guinsaugon Landslide while performing their duties) for Best barangay Public Servant given last December 9, 2007.
The Local government Unit recognizes her untiring devotion of her service for the past 24 years (1983-present) in Barangay Himos-onan, Saint Bernard, southern leyte as BHW demonstrating a consistent work perfor- mance and exemplary ethical behavior as barangay public servant.

The Athena Awards were given in memory to those committed public servants who were buried alive on February 17,2006 in Guinsaugon Landslide while performing their duties. |
