Mayor Rico C. Rentuza  is youthful person who was born a leader with a colorful life. He started his elementary education at St. Bernard Central School, and graduated in the year 1985 SALUTATORIAN. He finished high school at Cristo Rey Regional High School, graduated in the year 1989 VALEDICTORIAN. He spent his college days at the University of San Carlos, Cebu City taking up Bachelor of Arts, Major in Political Science. He graduated in the year 1993 CUM LAUDE. To pursue his dream he took up law at UP Diliman, College of Law, in Quezon City and graduated in the year 1997.

He passed the prestigious Bar Exam during his first try. He practiced law in the year 1998 until early 2007with dedication to protect the interest of clients by all means under our law. His expertise in this field was demonstrated when he became the legal consultant of Under Secretary  JOSELITO H. RUIZ (2005-2006) of the Department of Interior and Local Government. He also taught several law subjects in the Colleges of Law in Southwestern University and University of San Carlos from 2000-2004.   He was elected as President of the Rotary Club of Mandaue East since 2006 until early 2007. His involvement with civic and humanitarian service as Rotarian leads him helping the victims of the Guinsaugon Tragedy in 2006. As a true Himatagnon, he saw the urgent need of this town. Heeding the call for public service, he offered himself and sacrificed his colorful career just to serve the people of St. Bernard. In his very first try, he ran and won in a big margin the mayoralty race last May 2007 and become the Municipal Mayor of his beloved town, St. Bernard with his commitment for “change- kausaban alang sa kalambuan”.

He was married to Miss Myra Calonia and father of four beautiful children Malycka Roz 7, Rob Eishico 5, Renz Mericho  4 and Michaela Ria 2. He is an ardent environmental/ ecological advocate being a member of environmental and ecological organizations in the country and in his spare moments he plays basketball, explores the great outdoors, and gets musical.
